Art & Music
Although I can’t recall an exact moment in my childhood when art became an interesting subject, I do have fond memories of completing art projects in middle and high school and of watching Bob Ross paint his infamous landscapes on TV.
At some point in high school my love of music began to outweigh my love of art and music quickly took over my life. This lasted for almost twenty years. I threw myself into the pursuit of music so intensely that I burned out in my early thirties and had to put music aside.
A move to Oregon from Los Angeles rekindled a love of nature, which in turn re-ignited a passion for art. I began rewatching all of Bob Ross’s episodes religiously and ultimately purchased some canvases, paints and brushes. I began to dive into painting as I had into music and found art to be a great replacement.
After a few years of painting, the passion for music came back. Now art and music coexist sustainably—neither is compromised; both are part of a whole.
